midi controller

Rob Davies
Has anyone tried using a midi controller with digikam for editing? Like this one http://www.dawsons.co.uk/akai-midimix-usb-midi-mixer-controller

Thanks,
Rob

I was not aware that digikam supported midi interfaces. Can you point me to the documentation that explains it?

Best,
Mica

Re: midi controller

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, my mistake. What I meant was does digikam support midi interfaces? Has anyone tried to get a midi interface working with digikam.

Thanks,
Rob

Re: midi controller

One of the darktable developers had started on midi support for that application. The problem is that you need some sort of midi translation service that'll take the midi knobs and sliders values and apply them to the modules.

This does not exist so far as I know, for any photo application in the Free Software world. I'd certainly love to be wrong though, as I do some music production and having physical knobs is just so nice.

Best,
Mica

Re: midi controller

I think you're right with it not existing for free software, have only seen it for photoshop and lightroom via plugins. I was hoping that it was part of digikam, shame though as I like the idea of using physical knobs and buttons.

Thanks for your help on that.
